The Wise Report

I try to be accurate, but occasionally errors are made in my reporting.  I want to thank those of you who caught them and reported them to me.  There were several errors in the last two Wise Reports that need correction.

Steven Polunsky, Director of the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce pointed out that Talmadge Heflin was a member of the Texas House of Representatives, not the Senate.  Also, the TDLR Executive Director is Bill Kuntz, not Kunz.

The correct number of PGs registered in Texas is 4,830, not 1,830, as reported (typo on my part, several people caught this one).

Charles Horton, Executive Director of the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists writes, “I also noticed that the statement regarding action taken by the Board on 851.156 might appear to the reader to have been adoption of a rule change. The actions approved by the Board was to post both proposed changes rules 851.104(d) and 851.156 for posting to the Texas Register for public comment. The Board will not consider final action on those two proposed changes public comments have been received and reviewed by the Board.

“We plan to send a mass e-mail to our licensees/others on our mailing list to give an update on the Board' meeting soon, but we will probably send it after we can give the date the proposed changes will be published in the Texas Register for public comment.”

Mr. Horton also pointed out that “The Board also approved proposed changes to §851.152, regarding Firm Compliance for posting to the Texas Register for public comment: The Board proposed to add the words “non-exempt” before the words “geoscience work” in three places in the rule; and to clarify application requirements for firms that file “assumed name certificates” in Texas.”  I didn’t report this one because it was simply a clarification.
