Earth Science Week at Houston Museum of Natural Sciences

Oct 10, 2026 10:00 AM - Oct 10, 2026 02:00 PM

The HGS Earth Science Week (ESW) event will be held in conjunction with the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences on Saturday, October 10, in the museum’s Paleontology Hall lobby from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

ESW (earthsciweek.org) is an international event under the aegis of the American Geosciences Institute and HGS has been sponsoring the local event with the museum for over three decades.

This year’s theme is Critical Minerals for a Thriving Society.

The event at the museum this year will include information tables that feature the geology of Texas, local fieldtrips for families, a history of salt and salt tectonics, micropaleontology, fossil wood, and a co-sponsored table that features a few of the rocks and minerals that host critical minerals and the geophysics of their exploration.

Volunteers for each of the tables will be needed. To volunteer, please contact Barbara Hill  via text (315-706-4709) or email (bhill13090@gmail.com).
