The Brazos River trip is back! Float down the river with the Houston Gem and Mineral Society.
Meet at 8 AM at the Exxon station at exit 723, at 8 AM. Put in point is the San Felipe city park and take out is the I-10 bridge. Distance as the fish swims is 7 miles. We will park cars at both places and shuttle people back and forth.
We will float the river and collect Pleistocene vertebrate fossils, petrified wood, and possibly some indian artifacts. It is perfectly legal to do so and if you do not pick them up, they are gone forever down the river. We commonly find elephant, bison, horse, and lots of petrified wood.
Bring water, sunscreen, and some food for lunch. You can bring your own kyak/canoe.
Free trip except if you need to rent a spot in a canoe. Rental is $15 dollars. Mail a check, made out to Immega, for delivery by Oct 26 (Wednesday) to Neal Immega, 3918 Case St, Houston, Tx 77005. Contact him first by email (only) to see if there are open seats in the rental canoes..
No services at all on the river.
