Glen Rose, Texas - August 6
Texas has a world class dino track site in Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose.
The Houston Gem and Mineral Society Invites HGS members to attend this special field trip. Get a guided tour of the Glen Rose track ways in the Cretaceous Glen Rose formation with published expert on dinosaur tracks, Glen Kuban. You will get to see track ways off the beaten path and hear Glen's analysis of what is going on. See the details about how some of the dino tracks came to be identified as "Paluxy River man tracks."
Glen's has a web site with further details at http://paleo.cc/hgmstrip.htm where you can find a warm-up on the site, trip planner, etc. It includes directions to the park, information on motels and other accomodations, what to bring, other things to see and do in area, and a summary of the geology and paleontology of the track sites.
If you are planning to attend please let Glen know by emailing him at gkpaleo@yahoo.com or calling him at 281-290-6751, so he can better plan the trip schedule and which sites to prep and visit. Please mention how many will be in your party and the ages of any children attending.
