This course will cover how oil and gas are generated, critical variables in assessing source rock quality, measuring total organic carbon content (TOC), source rock quality and organic matter type, thermal maturity, predicting volumes, types and timing of hydrocarbon generation, models for source rock deposition, and the appropriate use of more sophisticated geochemical analyses.
