  Description: This one day course uses lecture and
  group exercise format to introduce the basics of 
 carbonate reservoir characterization.&nbsp\; It em
 phasizes rock typing and integration of Geology wi
 th quantitative petrophysical techniques.&nbsp\; A
 lthough the principles taught are critical for geo
 logical modeling\, it is not a modeling course.&nb
 sp\; Time constraints also limit extensive integra
 tion of seismic datasets.&nbsp\; The course sectio

 ill Raatz\, Occidental Petroleum\n \n \n \n Bio:&n
 bsp\; Bill Raatz is currently an Oxy Fellow with O
 ccidental Petroleum.&nbsp\; Past positions with Ox
 y include Worldwide Chief Geologist and Director o
 f Geosciences.&nbsp\; Bill&rsquo\;s specialties ar
 e carbonate depositional systems\, stratigraphy an
 d reservoir characterization\, which he has applie
 d extensively in the Permian Basin and Middle East
 . He teaches short courses in reservoir characteri
 zation\, sedimentary petrography\, core interpreta
 tion\, and field trips to New Mexico\, West Texas\
 , and Oman.\n \n Bill has served AAPG as a Search 
 and Discovery editor and as a member of the Corpor
 ate Advisory Board.&nbsp\; He has published numero
 us papers and edited special publications on the g
 eology of the Permian Basin region.\n \n Bill prev
 iously worked for ARCO International Exploration\,
  ARCO Alaska\, Phillips Alaska\, and New Mexico Te
 ch University.&nbsp\; He received his BS and MS in
  Geology from the University of Iowa\, and his PhD
  from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. \n \n &
