The HGS has 2 ways for you to receive email notices about HGS events:
- Regular email notices sent to you through the Univ. of
Houston Listserver a few days before each HGS class, meeting or field trip.
To receive these email notices, you must sign up on the University of
Houston's Geoscience Listserver. Its easy to do and just as easy to
remove your name if you find the service unacceptable.
- Special email notices sent directly from the HGS office.
These notices will be reserved for very special situations only.
For example, if the date or time changes for an HGS class, meeting or
field trip. You will also be notified if the HGS Executive Board determines
you need to be informed about a certian issue related to the HGS Society.
You can elect to have your name removed from this special email notification list.

Announcing HOUSTON-GEOSCIENCES: The Geosciences Forum for the Greater
Houston Area
The Houston Geological Society also uses this forum to send out last
timely notices about HGS upcoming events.
"Houston-Geosciences" is a free, subscription-only, electronic mailing list
sponsored by the Department of Geosciences at the University of Houston.
Its purpose is to facilitate interdisciplinary scientific discussion,
timely exchange of information, and community among geoscience
professionals in the greater Houston area. We hope you will subscribe and
contribute.
News, information, and discussion of any topic or event related to the
geosciences are invited. We welcome short announcements of the availability
of publications, specialized software applications, equipment, courses,
seminars, meetings and conferences, services, job openings, scholarships,
URL's for WWW resources, and other opportunities that are relevant to the
geoscientific purposes of the list and likely to be of interest to
geoscience professionals.

Special Email Notifications
These notices will be reserved for very special situations only. You do NOT need
to subscribe to a Listserver to receive these email notices. All HGS members
who provide their email address (on the "new member" form or the "dues renewal" form)
to the HGS office will receive these notices.

list, send an email to the WebManager@hgs.org.
Automatic Notification
When A Specific HGS Web Page Changes
Now you can be notified by email when an HGS web page changes. Choose the page
(or pages) of interest to you and URL-Minder will do the rest. All you need is
the ability to send and receive email, and a forms-capable browser. For more
details on how URL-Minder works, go to
NetMind's home pages. You can tag any page, even a partial page, with the
instructions available there, but we suggest you start by choosing one of the
pages in the list below.
Let the
Web Manager know if you want additional choices added to this
list of pages:
Here are the pages to which those reminders will refer you:
Once you register, any change in the page you designate will cause the NetMind
site to send you an e-mail notification. Notification usually arrives within
three days of the change.
