HGS Registration Information
If you are interested in joining the Houston Geological
Society, and you meet the
qualifications below, please submit your
application to the HGS office.

Consider your $20 annual dues as a solid investment in your career. The HGS provides its
members with many benefits including a superb technical meeting program,
educational/professional seminars, short courses, sporting and social events, membership
directory and this excellent monthly bulletin. Each event provides great opportunities to
network and keep up with what is going on in our industry. The annual cost of only $20 is
easily recouped through discounted costs to the numerous events. Last year, the well-attended
HGS golf tournament was discounted $25 to its members. Please maintain your membership
and encourage your colleagues to join.
Qualifications for Active Membership
- Have a degree in geology or an allied geoscience from an accredited college or university; or
- Have a degree in science or engineering from an accredited college or university and have been
engaged in earth science interpretation for at least five (5) years.
Qualifications for Associate Membership (including Students)
- Be involved in the application of the earth or allied sciences
- Be a full-time student enrolled in geology or in the related sciences.
Administrative Year: July 1 through June 30.
Annual dues are $20.00; ($10.00 of your membership fee goes toward the HGS Bulletin )
Full-time students and emeritus members pay $10.00.
Free Student Memberships Available for a Limited Time
During the fiscal year July 2002 - June, 2003, and while funding lasts
(courtesy of
Kerr McGee ), any college or graduate student studying geoscience can apply for
a 1 year FREE membership to the HGS.
Student members receive the monthly Bulletin, numerous other benefits
All the student needs to do is fill out a

Houston Geological Auxiliary
Registration
Did you know that the HGA sponsors a social organization for your wife or spouse?
The Houston Geological Auxiliary has been operating since 1950. We
have five meetings a year. There are 5 meetings a year.
A luncheon in September, a Christmas Party, a Game Day in February, a Spring luncheon in March
and a luncheon/business meeting in May.

Our dues are $20.00 a year.
And if your wife enjoys smaller groups, we have
Geowives which is open to members of HGA. Their dues are $7.50. The more
relaxed smaller group makes it easier to get acquainted with everyone.
If these activities sound interesting to your spouse, we will be happy to have
her fill out the
HGA Membership Form .
