The Houston Geological Society GeoJob Bank website provides employment opportunities and information to interested members of the Houston Geological Society, Geophysical Society of Houston, and the geological/geophysical community at large.

03/01/05 - New all-time, monthly records were set for GeoJob Listings (76) and HGS website hits (16,429) during February. Also, up to 50 active positions were posted during this month. February was also the fourth consecutive month of record job postings for individual months (nearly 220 total, during the four months).

01/01/05 - A new yearly record set at 516, for the total number GeoJobs during 2004--averaging over 40 per month. Also during 2004, we recorded 144,402 website "hits", for an average of over 12,000 per month.

09/06/04 - The "Current GeoJob+ Listing" page sets a new record with 77 active website links to available geoscience positions (of 106 total links on the page).

08/01/04 - New Record -- Over 500,000 total "hits" recorded on the GeoJob Bank web pages, to date.

07/23/04 - Nineteen positions submitted in a single day--a new record !!

07/11/04 - The "Current GeoJob+ Listing" page sets a new record with 73 active website links to available geoscience positions (of 101 total links on the page).

05/08/04 - New graphs of the analysis of the 2003 GeoJob ads were added to the "GeoJobs & Energy Statistics" page. They include the: "Job Category Breakdown", "Minimum Experience Levels", and the "Job Status Category, Minimum Education Requirements, and Job Location Category" graphs.

02/07/04 - A significant upgrade to the menus and web pages for the GeoJob Bank website, was completed. This was the first such upgrade, since we went "live" with the new website on 09/19/03.

02/01/04 - Last month was the best January ever, for both job ads (48) and website hits (15,755). The "Current GeoJob+ Listing" page sets a new record with 65 active website links to available geoscience positions (of 80 total links on the page).

01/10/04 - The "Current GeoJob+ Listing" page sets a new record with 59 active website links to available geoscience positions (of 80 total links on the page).

01/01/04 - New Yearly Record set for total Website "Hits" at 144,817. 2003 was the third best year for total GeoJob Ads at 439, closely following 479 in 2002, and 448 in 2001.

12/09/03 - The "Current GeoJob+ Listing" page sets a new record with 54 active website links to available geoscience positions (of 71 total links on the page).

09/19/03 - The completely redesigned HGS website goes online.

09/06/03 - The "Current Jobs+ Listing" section has links to 218 positions (30 active, of 42 total website links), setting a new record of 239 total active positions listed on the Current Jobs Listing page.

07/30/03 - The "Current Jobs+ Listing" section added to the Current Jobs Listing web page. 103+ positions posted, intially (15 active website links).

06/07/03 - The "Estimated Number of Yearly Geoscience Graduates" graph was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

05/05/03 - The HGS "Jobs Hotline" website posts it's 2000th ad.

05/01/03 - "Geoscience Jobs 2002: Who, What, and Where? Part Two" is published in the HGS Bulletin (Cline, W.M., Vol. 45, No. 9, pp. 59-63).

03/01/03 - "Geoscience Jobs 2002: Who, What, and Where? Part One" is published in the HGS Bulletin (Cline, W.M., Vol. 45, No. 7, pp. 43-47).

01/23/03 - New "unofficial" record set, for 11 Positions submitted in a single day.

01/01/03 - New website counter installed.

01/01/03 - New Yearly Records set, 479 Geoscience Positions & 132,118 Website "Hits".

11/06/02 - The "Combined Oil Price, Drilling Rig, Mining Employees" graph was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

11/01/02 - October sets new records -- 73 Job Listings & 13,744 website "Hits". We also surpass last year's total "Hits" (currently at 109,481).

10/24/02 - The "Current Jobs Listing" Page has surpassed ONE QUARTER OF A MILLION "Hits" since 05/22/02.

09/25/02 - The "World Crude Oil and Natural Gas Reserves" graph was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

09/01/02 - The "Mining Industry Unemployment Data" graph was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

08/03/02 - The "Website News" page was created and added to the website.

08/02/02 - A new "unofficial" record is set for the largest number of active positions (54) posted on the website, at any given time!!

06/23/02 - The "Website Feedback" page was created and incorporated into the website.

06/21/02 - Michael Cline receives the "Rising Star Award" during the HGS President's Night Dinner, for his work on the HGS Personnel Placement Committee and the Jobs Hotline website.

06/01/02 - The "Drilling & Seismic Activity" graph was was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

05/17/02 - The website records it's 200,000th hit, since the new counter was installed 05/22/00.

04/27/02 - The "Annual Salaries" graph was added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

04/09/02 - The 1500th position was posted on the website.

01/12/02 - The "HGS Jobs & Hits" and the "HGS Monthly Trends" graphs were added to the "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page.

01/01/02 - 448 ads were posted and 100,278 website hits are recorded for the year 2001.

12/24/01 - The "Jobs & Energy Statistics" page was created. The "Mining and HGS Jobs", "Monthly Product Prices" and "Crude Consumption & Production" were the initial graphs included.

07/24/01 - The website records it's 100,000th hit, since the new counter was installed 05/22/00.

05/15/01 - The "Resubmitted Ads" page was added to the website, in an attempt to make it easier for companies to fill positions, which were still vacant after the initial posting period of 14 days. Resubmitted ads are posted for an additional, extended period of one month (from posting date).

03/06/01 - The 1000th position was posted on the website.

01/01/01 - 193 ads were posted and 43,009 website hits are recorded for the year 2000.

12/18/00 - Michael Cline replaces Art Leibold as Chairman of the Personnel Placement Committee.

05/22/00 - New website counter installed.

05/06/00 - The HGS Jobs Hotline webpages were updated to have more similarity with the main HGS website.

05/02/00 - Michael Cline volunteers as webmaster for the HGS Jobs Hotline website, replacing Kara Bennett who originated and has maintained it since 1996.

01/01/00 - 120 ads were posted for the year 1999.

01/01/99 - 257 ads were posted for the year 1998.

01/01/98 - 303 ads were posted for the year 1997.

06/20/97 - The 500th position was posted on the website.

01/01/97 - 44 ads were posted for the year 1996 (partial year from 09/12/96-12/31/96).

09/12/96 - Kara Bennett originates the online version of the HGS Jobs Hotline and the first ads are posted.
