Committee: Continuing Education
The HGS Continuing Education committee organizes and presents short courses, seminars and symposia for HGS members and the local geoscience community.
We pride ourselves on using the efforts of the many talented members of the Houston geoscience community to present high quality, state of the art programs on timely topics. Most of our programs are 1 day or 1/2 day courses and symposia.
Continuing Ed can always use volunteers. There are a couple of patterns for committee volunteers in Con Ed:
1) If you've ever wanted to learn about a particular topic, you can join the committee temporarily, organize a course (with help, of course) by finding an instructor, speaker or series of speakers, arranging for space, finding sponsors (if desired), and publicizing the program. You can shepherd your course through and then leave the committee, or...
2) You can join as a regular member and help someone else put together course by doing some of the tasks listed above, for one or several courses.
