Alliances
North Harris College - Geoscience Technology Training Center

The North Harris College Geoscience Technology Training Center is a one-of-a-kind facility that is based on a dynamic alliance between the college, business community, and geoscientists. The center provides advanced, publicly accessible, cost-effective UNIX-based and PC-based workstation training for individuals seeking employment or interested in improving and/or diversifying their current employment skills. The GTTC offers a broad range of hands-on courses for the interpreter, geotechnician, or anyone else in the oil and gas industry. Most of the classes range from 16 to 24 contact hours in length.

Note: They have moved! The GTTC is now located in the NHMCCD District Office, just east of I-45 North on the eastbound frontage road of the Sam Houston Parkway. See their website for more details and directions.

Ellison Miles Geotechnology Institute at Brookhaven College, Dallas, Texas.

The Ellison Miles Geotechnology Institute provides affordable high quality technical application and continuing education in petroleum geology, geophysics and engineering. The Geotechnology Institute is dedicated to developing, upgrading and maintaining UNIX workstation and PC skills of geoscientists. Many courses are compacted into one to three days, and offer software training that includes more efficient interpretation of 2D/3D seismic data, management of petroleum exploration projects, creation of presentation maps and charts, and electric well log interpretation.

The institute constitutes an interactive alliance comprising four groups: the DCCCD Foundation, Brookhaven College, the geoscience business community, and geoscience industry professionals
