HGS Advertising Opportunities
There are several ways to advertise your services or company with the Houston Geological Society:

Effective June1st, 2009 you can now have your company logo picture posted on the Website. To have an ad posted ,you must provide us with the graphic and give us the URL it should link to when clicked.
All ads appear in the "Our Sponsors" box in the upper left of the page. Each ad is displayed for a short time and replaced by the next ad in the list. Each ad will be randomly displayed on each page.

All Sponsor logo images must be 120 W X 90 H pixels and be no more than 8 bits per pixel with a maximum of 256 colors. The format can be either GIF or JPG, preferably interlaced or progressive. It is important to make the image file size as small as possible so that it will transfer to the users' browser quickly. Here is an example of the size required.

HGS Member Resume
HGS Members and applicants qualified for membership can post their own resume on the HGS website at no charge. Simply log on to the HGS website under your member user name and go to the resume area. Click on "Add a Resume" and fill out the form. When you are finished, click "Submit Resume." The webmaster will be notified automatically and activate your resume in less than 24 hours, if at all possible.
Non-members whose applications for membership are pending must first register on the website and then ask the webmaster@hgs.org to enable their temporary membership.
Before creating your resume, take a look at the form to see what features you can use. For example, if you have a website where your talents are described or displayed, there is a place in the resume posting to reference a URL. You can also edit your resume later if you need to change something. You are the "owner" of that database entry. And, as the owner, you have access to a record of when your resume has been read.
Your resume will remain posted for one year unless your HGS membership lapses or you request that it be removed sooner. If you want to have your resume posted beyond twelve months, contact the Webmaster or around the time it is scheduled to expire.
Web Business Card
You can put up to text on our special Business Card web page plus your logo or a color scan of your business card.
A Web Business Card is free to all HGS members. You create your Business Card ad and you edit it as needed as often as you want. These ads have been optimized for search engines and you will find that Google and other search engines will find your information quickly. And, as the owner, you have access to a record of how many times your business card has been read.
Click here to download a document that shows how you can build your own Business Card.
If you want to add one now, click here to go to the Business Card Ad section, then click "Add" to add a new page.
Note while we call these ads "Business Card" ads, the database we use on this Website calls these ads "Directories". Please do no confuse these ads with the Member Directory which we also publish.
