India - Historical and Emerging Plays, Identifying New Petroleum Systems Using Regional PSDM Seismic Data
Two examples will be presented that have greatly increased India’s exploration potential. The first, on the east coast, is the 85E Ridge, previously thought to be a hot spot track, and now interpreted to be a continental fragment supporting a very large (50 x 100 km) carbonate platform, underlain by potential Jurassic through Cretaceous source rocks. The second example is a large deep (15-20 km) coastal graben that likely contains Albo-Aptian source rocks in the active oil generation window, beneath the Deccan Traps on the west coast.

Headwave is a geophysical software company providing 3D visualization and interaction with prestack and other multi-dimensional seismic datasets. By utilizing data compression and harnessing the rapidly increasing power of modern graphics cards, Headwave gives users easy interaction with potentially enormous (TB+) prestack datasets from single PCs or notebooks. With workflows for both data processors and interpreters see how Headwave is changing the way geoscientists look at seismic data at www.headwave.com, and for more information about the Headwave plugin for Petrel.
