Details for "13th Annual GoM Deepwater Technical Symposium"

The technical sessions cover a wide variety of topics including geoscience, reservoir and economics, drilling technology, well completions and interventions, emerging technology, and HS&E.  Student posters and an exhibit hall are also featured.  A total of 38 technical sessions are planned.
 
Geoscience presentations include:
  • A Statistical Approach to Facies and Pay Identification in Deepwater Depositional Environments without Cut-off Values
  • U.S. Atlantic Margin - State of Knowledge of its Petroleum Potential
  • Exploring for New Opportunities in Maturing Deepwater Basins: Contrasting the Deepwater GOM and Niger Delta
  • Blind Faith Field: A Geologic and Development Overview
  • The Role of Phased Development Planning in the Maturation of Sub-Salt Opportunities
  • Mitigating Reservoir Compaction and Casing Deformation in Deepwater Turbidites Using a 3D Mechanical Earth Model

Registration includes lunch both Thursday and Friday and an invitation to the Thursday evening social.

 
Thursday's keynote speaker will be Russ Ford, VP-Technical Directorate of Shell E&P Americas presenting the topic "Deepwater Development - Moving Forward in an Uncertain World".  Friday's keynote speaker will be Chad Deaton, CEO of Baker Hughes, speaking on "Collaborating to meet the Deepwater Challenge: How Operators and Service Companies are Working Together to Find and Develop Deepwater Reservoirs".
 
The Management Panel Discussion will feature Cesar Palagi, Walker Ridge Asset Manager for Petrobras America, Inc., Dave Rainey, VP of Exploration for BP, Ernst Den Hartigh, Asset Manager GOM East, Shell E&P Co., Grant Roscoe, GOM Technology Manager for Halliburton, Lars Herbst, Regionsl Director GOM, MMS, Marcel Robichaux, Drilling & Completions Mgr., Chevron, Patrick Thompson, GOM Marketing Mgr., Schlumberger, Rustom Mody, VP of Technology for Baker Hughes, and moderator Joe Leimkuhler of Shell Exploration & Production Co.
