Slow Movement of Africa Over the Past 300 Million Years
The position of Africa with respect to the equator and the zero meridian estimated from paleoenvironmental, apparent polar wander and
sea-floor magnetic data for the past 300 My. Africa has moved slowly because it has not been pulled by subducted slabs. Movement was
minimal from 180 to 130 Ma and again since 30 Ma.
